How do you design your cake? Here are a few suggestions to help you on your way!

Type of Cake

There are so many cake bases to choose from. Consider the occasion, whether it is formal or informal and the tastes of the recipient so here are some popular choices:
  • Victoria Sponge layered with buttercream and jam - Chocolate or Chocolate Chip
  • Orange and lemon Cake with orange buttercream - Chocolate and orange Marble
  • Coffee Cake with Coffee buttercream - Ginger Bread - Chocolate Brownie

Shape

These range from round, square, rectangular, numbered, floral, star and many more. Cakes can also be 3D shaped for example to accommodate an animal of object. Please note that in order to cut the shape for a 3D cake a heavier cake base would be needed eg. Madeira or heavier chocolate sponge. Unfortunately fruit based cakes cannot be used to cut into a shape.
